Fort Worth, Texas is a city with a rich history and culture. Established in 1840 by Jonathon Bird, the city has grown to become a major metropolitan area in the state. Located on the transparent fork of the Trinity River, Fort Worth is situated at 32º 46' north latitude and 97º 18' west longitude, on the edge of the Great Plains. The city has been home to many influential figures, such as Chuck's father who owned an independent insurance agency and his mother who served as a county judge, mother of three, and volunteer church organist at the local United Methodist Church for more than 40 years.

The ethnic Mexican population was minuscule until the beginning of the 20th century when two things happened: the opening of the Swift and Armour packing plants in 1903 and the Mexican Revolution of 1910. He began playing the piano in Sunday school when he was 11 and playing the organ for church when he was 13. Larger churches often have stadium seating, concert-quality sound and lighting, and they televise their worship for those who can't attend or simply don't fit in the same room. The first single-member district election for the Fort Worth City Council was held in 1977. In 1867, the first “long journey” of long-horned cattle from South Texas along the trail to the railroad headwaters of Kansas passed through Fort Worth.
Among the pioneering settlers were Ephraim Daggett, John Peter Smith (often referred to as the “father of Fort Worth”), Henry Daggett and Archibald Leonard, and Julian Feild. Bishop Jakes is also the founder of one of the largest churches in the country and the largest in DFW, The Potter's House. The Fort Worth Cultural District began in the 1930s and experienced significant development in the 1960s. The arrival of the railroad in 1876 also revived Fort Worth's economic prospects. The city established a Community Relations Commission (later Human Relations Commission) in 1967, which led to an ordinance on public housing in November 1969.
