WORKING TOGETHER TO IMPACT STUDENT'S LIVES -- Faith Community Action Team

Reaching out and lifting up! This partnership with the Fort Worth Independent School District, Tarrant NET, and other faith-based organizations, works to reach out to students and schools that struggle and provide support that has impact. Our first Hearts for Schools event in 2011, took 35 principal/counselor-recommended students from 7 low-performing schools to the Dallas International Aquarium, as an incentive for them to continue improving their grades, classroom behavior, and involvement in school. Our message was We R 4 U, so U B 4 U.  Tarrant Area Community of Churches co-convenes this group that will implement Hearts for Schools again in 2012, this time with an emphasis on relationship with the schools as we move toward the event in the spring. The Faith Community Action Team is open to all from the faith community who are interested in positively impacting students as they work toward graduation. If you would like to participate, call Melinda Veatch at 817-737-5554.

HELPING MOVE PEOPLE OFF THE STREET
Tarrant Area Community of Churches is an active participant in the Fort Worth Advisory Commission to End Homelessness, a group that advises the Mayor and the City Council of Fort Worth on addressing homelessness in Fort Worth and Tarrant County.

TACC continues to work with community partners to raise awareness of issues around homelessness as well as to participate in and help implement initiatives that bring supportive help around those working to move off the street and toward self-sustainability.
